FaZe Clan
Esports team FaZe Clan, known for its lineup of talented Fortnite players like Ewok,is getting into original content production. The company today announced a partnership with film and television producer Michael Sugar, who helped create 13 Reasons Why and Dickinson, to found FaZe Studios.
The two didn't announce any specific details on what they're working on,other than to say they'll produce "culturally impactful movies and television shows that specifically speak to and for youth."
In a way,it's not surprising to see a well-known esports team get into original content. We've seen other, arguably smaller organizations expand beyond gaming. In 2018,for instance, Canadian rapper Drake partnered with 100 Thieves to help the team build its apparel business. For FaZe,this is just the latest move the team has made toward more mainstream visibility. Last year,it partnered with soccer club Manchester City to sell co-branded products and host launch events together.
